My Best memories

Tena koutou Katoa my name is Michael, this is about my memories at this school. One of my favourite memories was when we went sailing through Can Sail in Lyttelton. The Can Sail Programme was great fun because someone from my class lost their hat overboard and we had to sail around for a long time to get the hat back.

On my first day at Richmond school I felt excited. I came to Richmond school when I was seven years old. I still remember my first day at Richmond School. Richmond School has been a fun and awesome school to go to. It is amazing.

Another memory from Richmond school is when we went to swimming lessons. Swimming lessons were great fun because I learnt how to do backstroke and other hard swimming skills.

Another great memory and fun activity we did at Richmond school was cycle safety. Cycle safety was great fun for me. I wasn't scared of riding because I had already ridden a bike before. I learnt the rules for riding a bike on the road.

This year felt so short but I can't wait for the year ahead of us.

The End

Richmond school gala

On Friday 8 November Richmond School held their Gala Celebrations. We were celebrating and thanking our community for all their support over the years. It was held at Richmond School. The twilight gala celebration started from 4:30 and finished at 6:30 pm which means that the gala was only 2 hours.

We set up an outside cafe. There were a lot of people at the twilight gala celebration, some people that came were even in their seventies. They were old pupils that used to come to Richmond School. I came with my mum, my sister and my two brothers.

At the twilight gala  we had some exciting activities, they were  skateboards, ramps and cheap skates, two bouncy castle and jeeps, the bouncy castle that was an obstacle course it was even bigger than our class. The  foods were meat pattie sandwiches, bacon butties, sausage sizzles, candy floss, popcorn and fruit. Everything was free because we were thanking our community for their support over the years.

Richmond school is 138 years old. When Richmond School hit nineteen hundreds (1900) it had stood here for twenty five years old. Which means that the school started in 1875. It used to be across the road at the park before it was moved to this site.

In my opinion I thought that the twilight gala was magnificent and awesome

Flick It On Challenge

I am going to tell you about our Flick it on challenge. For our Flick it on challenge my class and I have been working on a silent movie about how schooling has changed from Pre European which is the Maōri times all the way to the future school time. The Flick It On Challenge is a student collaborative film making challenge! The information was shared in October to our class. After we have finished our movie making we will send it to one of the schools doing the Flick It On Challenge and they will record what they think we said then they will send it back to us.

We chose a theme our theme was how learning has changed from pre European school times all the way to the future school times. We had one week to write our story and one week to film our videos and do the rest of our work. There are two other schools involved with our collaboration they are in the north island of New Zealand and in America and last of all us, Richmond School.
Each part of our movies were 20 seconds each. We worked in groups of 4. We had to include the time which was 3:15, a magic trick and a Rubrics cube. We filmed in Ferrymead after that we filmed at Willow Bank then we filmed in our school I.C.T Room and we filmed in Room 1 and 2 as well.

In The Maōri school time they learnt by talking to each other and singing songs. In the early European times we have classrooms that were wooden and they had fire places. In the present time they have iPad , iPods and all the electronic devises. In the future they may have to wear white overalls and google glasses to school everyday.
I was in the future part of the movie. The movies I filmed were Pre- European, Early European and the present. The only movie I didn't film was the future because I was acting in the future one. In one of the movies we filmed that class ended at 3:15 so we had to get the clock that had 3:15 on it. There were two time travellers acted by Hannah and Noa who went from one time to the other times. One school will add the music to our movie and the other school will add the dialogue which is the talking and we will do the same for their movies. I was excited. I learnt that school ended at 3:15 in the early European times

Mine craft classroom design

Today I would  to tell you about My awesome mission that I have already achieved this term.  We have been commissioned to design a MineCraft classroom.

After we all finish our classrooms all the classrooms will be combined into one whole school. MineCraft is a fun and awesome place that you can explore and anything is possible. MineCraft has more than twenty blocks.

A thing that I like about MineCraft is that you can make anything.Another good point about MineCraft is that you can make nearly everything their is on MineCraft.

In my opinion I think that MineCraft is awesome.

Share

This term we are learning about sharing.Sharing our resources stretches the boundaries and helps others take action. It starts with me after me it goes to friends, school, community, New Zealand, pacific then with the whole world. We have shared our resources by donating money to help others. We had a VSA  day because we donated, others can take action by volunteering their skills in other countries. We dressed up in our favourite costumes and brought a gold coin to help our friends across the pacific. We also donated generously on Red Nose Day. Because we have shared our recourses ,our money, we are helping other children get the medical treatment they need to get better. We all donated money the money will go to adults and children that have cancer. We all came to school wearing yellow on daffodil day. We had a yellow day.

I have felt awesome and great donating money and wearing mufti. I really like sharing.
